Russia, says Seth Jones of the Center for Strategic and International Studies, a think-tank in Washington, has for many years placed a “huge focus” on using its military-industrial complex to produce and develop an impressive range of EW capabilities to counter NATO’s highly networked systems. But Ukraine, according to its commander-in-chief, General Valery Zaluzhny, found itself at the beginning of the war with mainly Soviet-era EW systems. Initially the discrepancy had only limited impact, but as relatively static lines of contact have emerged Russia has been able to position its formidable EW assets where they can have the greatest effect.…

News | Airborne electronic attack: Owning the invisible battlespace
Airborne electronic attack is a crucial capability for gaining an advantage in the electromagnetic spectrum. It includes:
Disabling, degrading and denying enemy air defenses by overwhelming them with radio frequency energy.
Deceiving them using electronic decoys.
Disrupting enemy threats through jamming their radar and communications systems.
By interfering with enemy communications, radar systems and sensors, it ensures superiority on the battlefield and enables forces to carry out missions with reduced risks and increased operational effectiveness.
Today’s jammers are updated versions of mechanical systems that first flew in the Vietnam War. But the airspace has evolved into the digital age –…
A Guide to Emerging Opportunities
Vietnam’s booming electronics industry (EI), led by multinational corporations, has played a vital role in spurring trade volume, and bolstering the country’s GDP in the past decade. Fueled by trade liberalization, corporate tax cuts, improved labor quality, and government reforms, Vietnam consistently attracts foreign investors eyeing Asia for relocating their electronics industry investments.
Vietnam’s electronics industry (EI) is pivotal to its rapid economic growth and manufacturing achievements.
Supported by trade agreements and government policies, this sector offers attractive investment opportunities.
To capitalize on these opportunities, a thorough grasp of recent developments in Vietnamese electronics production, the sector’s structure, and current…
Russia wages electronic warfare ‘using UK-made tech’, Ukraine dossier claims | Russia
Many of the countries that have sanctioned Russia over the war in Ukraine need to take urgent action to disrupt the supply of technology for its electronic warfare campaign, according to a new report.
The dossier compiled by Ukraine and circulated to the major countries which have imposed sanctions identifies key Russian firms involved in the development and production of electronic military equipment. It says the UK and other countries have not yet sanctioned some of the firms involved.
It identifies what it claims is technology made by British firms in some of the advanced electronic equipment involved in the…
India imposes import restrictions on laptops and tablets; electronic manufacturing experts praise the move
In a groundbreaking move to boost domestic electronics production, the Government of India has recently implemented restrictions on the import of laptops, tablets and personal computers falling under HSN 8741 category. As per the government notification, the import of restricted items will be allowed only against a valid license.
Reacting to this, Hari Om Rai, Chairman and Co-founder of Lava International, praised the government’s initiative and called it a “leadership move” that will benefit both the industry and consumers.
In his statement to ANI, Rai emphasized the significance of this restriction, which aims to drive electronics manufacturing within India’s borders.…
UK opens electronic travel authorization scheme
The UK’s electronic travel authorization (ETA) scheme has officially opened for Qatari nationals who, from today, need one to travel to the UK.
This landmark opening demonstrates the UK government’s delivery in transforming and digitizing the UK border, enabling an increasingly seamless customer experience in the future for the millions of legitimate visitors who come to the UK.
Qataris have been able to apply for their ETA since 25 October 2023, with most doing so using the mobile app, which allows for a simple and fast application.
Last year, the UK welcomed almost 800,000 visitors from the Gulf, 45,000 of…
Toward more flexible and rapid prototyping of electronic devices | MIT News
Whether you are a new employee, a gymnast, or a bendy straw manufacturer, one trait is ideal across the board: flexibility.
The same can now be said about prototyping electronic devices. While designers typically test out their designs on “breadboards,” or thin plastic boards that can hold together electronic components, they are often stiff and slow. With the rigidity of these electronic backbones in mind, MIT researchers developed “FlexBoard,” a flexible breadboard that enables rapid prototyping of objects with interactive sensors, actuators, and displays on curved and deformable surfaces, such as a ball or clothes.
To illustrate the platform’s versatility…
