As many put work on pause for the Thanksgiving holiday, the fashion industry posted a much quieter week in the press than usual. Despite this, there were still a number of headlines that are worth noting from over the last seven days.
Leading the pack, Phoebe Philo announced that the second installment from her first “edit” will be arriving later this month; and following her, Future revealed what’s in store for his first collection as creative director of LANVIN LAB. Elsewhere, Louis Vuitton revealed the official location for its Men’s Pre-Fall 2024 show in Hong Kong; Jerry Lorenzo confirmed the release date for the hotly-anticipated adidas x Fear of God Athletics collection, and Bianca Saunders became the newest student mentor at Istituto Marangoni London.
Below, Hypebeast has rounded up the top fashion stories of the week so you can stay up to date on trends in the industry.
Phoebe Philo Readies Second Drop
After selling out the first delivery from her newly-opened eponymous fashion brand, Phoebe Philo has returned to reveal the release date for her second installment to be November 28. The British designer, who dropped the first act of her inaugural “edit” (Philo’s word for “collection”) at the end of last month, will start selling the next phase via her namesake website on that day.
No further details are currently available regarding the second installment of the edit, which is titled “A1.” The designer previously confirmed that a third drop from the line will be released at an undisclosed date.
Future Revealed First LANVIN LAB Collection
Several months after it was announced that Atlanta rapper Future would take over as the creative director for Lanvin’s latest initiative, Istituto Marangoni London, the brand has pulled back the curtain on what to expect from its first release.
The sub-label, which the brand says will serve as a “space to dream and play,” will look to the power of cosmic systems in its first collection, which is titled, “PLUTO.” The unisex lineup includes star-covered leather jackets, tailored trousers, graphic T-shirts, bold buckle belts, leather bags, dark frames and a Curb 3.0 sneaker.
Future’s first LANVIN LAB collection will launch across several drops from this November through early 2024. See the full range here.
Louis Vuitton Reveals the Location for Its Men’s Pre-Fall 2024 Show
Louis Vuitton has lifted the veil on the official location for its upcoming Men’s Pre-Fall 2024 show in Hong Kong, which is set to take place on November 30. The runway will occur at the picturesque Tsim Sha Tsui waterfront at the Avenue of Stars, a popular destination for locals and tourists alike for its views of the city’s skylines.
The location, which is renowned as Hong Kong SAR’s arts and culture hub, will serve as the backdrop for Pharrell’s first Men’s Pre-Fall output at the helm of the brand. Notably, K11 MUSEA will help the French House transform the K11 Victoria Dockside for the show, which will be livestreamed locally via digital billboards and globally on Louis Vuitton’s accounts.
Jerry Lorenzo Confirms the Release Window for adidas x Fear of God Athletics
After teasing a number of first-look images, adidas and Fear of God’s highly-anticipated collaboration is just about to launch.
On Instagram, FOG designer Jerry Lorenzo commented on a post regarding the collaboration’s arrival, confirming that it was “about two weeks out.” With Lorenzo’s brief message, eager fans can expect the collection to roll out in the beginning of December.
While there are currently no other concrete details, the collection is expected to include a range of footwear, sporty ready-to-wear and accessories. Stay tuned to Hypebeast as the release window nears.
Gucci Continuum and Barbour Reveal New Re-Loved Partnership
After collaboration with the likes of EGONlab. and Vans, Gucci Continuum has tapped Barbour for a heart-eyed “Re-Loved” collection.
Utilizing Gucci’s textiles, the British brand has crafted a slew of one-of-a-kind pieces, including eight unisex jackets and three gilets, highlighting Gucci’s key themes of “Flora,” “Equestrianism,” “English Gardens,” and “Evening .” Taking notes from the Italian fashion house’s codes, each design nods to Barbour’s classic silhouettes, such as the Barbour wax cotton jacket, the Bedale jacket, and the Beaufort jacket.
Gucci’s Continuum initiative serves to unite emerging and established designers under the larger House, offering a bridge between the digital and physical worlds for creative fashion outputs. See the collaboration here.
Bianca Saunders Named Istituto Marangoni London’s New Student Mentor
Istituto Marangoni London, one of the British capital’s best fashion schools, will welcome designer Bianca Saunders as its latest student mentor.
The school, which most recently tapped Grace Wales Bonner for the advisory role, will ask Saunders to train students for their future careers in the industry. On campus, the British menswear designer will host intimate masterclasses that speak to her own creative techniques, and she will work closely with students to offer crucial feedback in their work. Additionally, Saunders will host a number of guest speakers at the school throughout the year.
